At the end of the academic year, we enjoy our
periodical was honoured by the 4th place in the competition of 24
periodicals from the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic for the year 2001
arranged in the frame of Carlsbad Days of Lawyers.
On 29 July 2002 doc. JUDr. J. R. Tretera gave a
lecture at the Academic Weeks in Nové Město nad Metují, on the theme
“Regulation in the Church-State Relation”. Except valuation of the Act No.
3/2002 of Coll., against which a legal action was taken at the Constitutional
Court, the lecturer informed about the recent agreement between the Czech
Republic and the Holy See (signed on 25 July 2002).
On 3
September 2002, doc. JUDr. J. R. Tretera gave a lecture on the theme “Religion
and Education in Eastern and Central Europe” at the international conference
“Culture and Law” hold in Warsaw, in the bulding of the Sejm.
Following
the international conference in Warsaw, the president of our association
participated in the 34. Deutscher Rechtshistorikertag in Würzburgu (8 –
12 September 2002). This city was chosen for the site of conference
because of the 600th anniversary of the foundation of Bayerische Julius-Maximilians-Universität.
About 350 legal historians attended many programme lectures. Except scholars
from all the German speaking countries, participants were from Netherlands, Poland,
Japan, The United States of America, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Denmark,
Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Italia were present. Among canonists,
Prof. Hugo Schwendenwein (Graz), prof. Inger Dübecková (Dragør), Dr.
Hans-Wolfgang Strätz (Konstanz), prof. Martin Heckel (Tübingen) and Dr.
Miroslav Černý (Plzeň) were present at this conference.
On 6 November 2002, the panel discussion on the theme
“The Act No. 3/2002 of Coll. and the International Agreement with the Holy
See” was hold in the reading room of the Dominican monastery in Prague.

On 9-11 November 2002, doc. J. R. Tretera participated
in the international conference arranged by the European Consortium the Research on the Church-State
Relation in Thessaloniki.
Doc. ICLic. JUDr. Antonín Ignác Hrdina a ICDr. JUDr.
Stanislav Přibyl, PhD. became lecturers in church law at the Catholic
Theological Faculty of Charles University. Mgr. Záboj Horák, LL.M., the
secretary of our association, became an lecturer in Roman law at the Law
Faculty of Charles University.
The Foreign Secretary Dr Cyril Svoboda Gave a Lecture on the Constitution, State Ecclesiastical Law, and International Treaties for the Church Law Society on December 4, 2002, at a Meeting Supported by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's Czech Republic Representation.
JUDr. Viktor Hodek a Mgr. Kamila Šenkové concluded a church marriage in the St.
Nicolaus' Church at the Old Town Square.
Miloš Holub and Stanislav Pšenička, our colleagues and
long-time members of the pracovní výbor of the Church Law Society, finished
their studies at the Law Faculty of Charles University and were given the
magister degree. Mgr. Adam Bašný gained
the degree of the doctor of law.
